Are you ready to go to heaven if you should die today?

You can be!

Please take a few minutes and read through the following and make your decision today.

Why can’t we go to heaven as we are?

The Bible tells us that our sin problem keeps us out of heaven.  “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23, Romans 3:10).

Our sins separate us from a holy God.

We must get rid of our sin before we can go to heaven.  There is nothing WE can do to remove that sin.

We are destined to receive the wages of those sins.  “For the wages of sin is death….” (Romans 6:23).  This is not just simply death and burial but eternal separation from God in Hell and the lake of fire.

But it doesn’t have to end there.  The rest of the verse goes on to say – “…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”  We can possess eternal life instead of death and it comes through Jesus Christ. That is possible through the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ – God’s Son. 

God loved us enough to provide salvation for all who will believe. Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth (demonstrated) his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Christ died in our place, as our substitute. 

When Jesus went to the cross, He did not die for any sin of his own, He had none.  He was brutally tortured, shed His own blood, and died for your sin and for mine.  He was buried and arose the third day.  He ascended into heaven and is now preparing a place for all believers. (John 14:6).

Some mistakenly believe that they can do good works and gain or work their own way to heaven, but the Bible clearly tells  us that is impossible.  Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:  Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Christ did everything that was necessary to provide for salvation, what we need to do is to believe;  to trust Jesus  Christ alone for our salvation, not church membership, baptism, good works, or anything else.  Romans 10:9-10, ^{9 “}That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  ¹⁰ For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

John 3:15-16 (KJV)
^15 “That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. ¹⁶“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

 John 3:36 (KJV)
^36” He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”

The Bible says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13).

Would you be willing right now to pray and tell the Lord that you want to receive Jesus Christ as your Savior today?  If so, pray a prayer something like this – 

Lord, I know that I am a sinner. If I died today, I know I would not go to heaven. Please forgive my sin, come into my life and be my Savior. Help me live for you from this day forward. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Everlasting life begins when we receive Christ as our Savior.

Your salvation is not something that you can lose or that anyone can take from you.

1 John 5:12-13, ¹² “He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. ¹³ These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

John 10:27-28, ^27 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: ²⁸ And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”

God has given you new life in Christ – 2 Corinthians 5:17, ^{17 “}Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
